PHOENIX, Ariz. The California/Nevada/Arizona
Automotive Wholesalers’ Association (CAWA) and its affiliate the
Arizona Automotive Wholesalers’ Association (AAWA) are reporting a
successful outcome to their lobbying efforts after the Arizona
legislature signed into law a bill that provides monetary relief for
Arizona parts stores that sell lead batteries.
Under the new law, HB
2130, which takes effect July 29, Arizona parts stores may assess
battery core deposits up to $15 per battery, compared to the previous
$5 limitation.
“Despite the political challenges of a difficult
legislative session, the Arizona Automotive Wholesalers’ Association
was very effective in working with lawmakers to achieve legislative
victories for our members,” said Rodney Pierini, AAWA president and CEO.
